Meet Asst. Pastor Donna Johnson
Pastor Donna was saved in 1995 and licensed in 2004. She is a member of the OFC Church Council and serves as Director of the Nursery Program.
She and her husband, Stix, founded the Heart n’ Soul Soup Kitchen over 15 years ago. The soup kitchen is an integral and well known ministry to the community which does more than just provide meals to people in need on Tuesdays at 4 pm. Pastor Donna has set a very high standard for how OFC “guests” will be treated. Tablecloths and colorful seasonal centerpieces express the love and care of God. Fresh produce and free clothing are distributed when available. She hosts a Canal Cruise fundraiser for the soup kitchen every summer. People travel from Connecticut and Boston for this annual sold-out event.
Pastor Donna coordinates the Salvation Army bell ringers that you see during the Christmas season. Her community outreach activities include Thanksgiving food baskets and Christmas vouchers and gifts for children. She also coordinates OFC’s participation in the Nights of Hospitality, which is when certain churches open their doors during the winter months for the homeless. OFC assists by providing food and helping to chaperone. Each year Pastor Donna and the Heart n’ Soul Soup Kitchen coordinates a home cooked meal for the Wareham Gatemen baseball team along with the visiting team, staff and coaches.
Pastor Donna is very detailed oriented, which is extremely helpful in her role as a long time member of the OFC Church Council. A fun fact about Pastor Donna is that if she is at a meeting, you can be assured that she will take very precise notes, which could be entered into evidence at the U.S. Supreme Court due to their accuracy.
Pastor Donna and her husband have 6 adult children, 7 grandchildren and lives in Wareham with her husband.
